The Kerbside Collection Scheme involves collecting unwanted clothes, shoes and other discarded household textiles that would normally end up as landfill. It is a comprehensive recycling scheme which is designed to generate income for the local authority or charity, help the environment and be economically viable.

This is an established scheme and operates nationwide. The scheme is operated solely by I & G Cohen Limited, who are textile recyclers and members of the nationally recognised Textile Recycling Association. I & G Cohen Limited has been running doorstep clothing collection schemes for over 10 years and been involved in recycling for over 40 years.

Operation of the scheme
Every householder will receive an envelope bag containing a collection bag explaining what is required. The unwanted clothes and shoes are put in a bag, placed outside the house and collected on the day specified on the bag. This maximises the participation in the scheme because it is convenient and easy to do. Authorised collectors visit every householder in specific territories agreed with the designated local authority or charity. The unwanted clothes and shoes are transported to our depot, weighed and data transferred to the customer within agreed timescales.

Service of the scheme
Servicing the scheme is critically important. The company runs a comprehensive support package for customers. The Local authority will be given a dedicated named person to contact for any issues concerning the running of the scheme. The company also provides a telephone support line operated by our helpline team for the public. We offer a call back system for missed collections and run a state of the art technical back up ensuring that problems are dealt with promptly and efficiently. Vehicles are tracked and linked into our text messaging system to provide rapid response to the public.

Collections are undertaken at specific times agreed with the local authority and/or charity.
All representatives of the company undertaking the clothing collections services are provided with identification which they show at all times.
All representatives of the company will deal promptly and politely with the public at all times and any complaints are dealt with promptly and courteously.
