Thanks to the help of our loyal staff, good long term relationships with customers and suppliers, and a lot of hard work from the Cohen family we can look back on 50 years with great pride and satisfaction.

A Brief History
I & G Cohen Ltd have always been at the forefront of textile recycling in the UK, and continually strive to innovate within the industry.

Being a family business, it has always been important to retain that family feel for the staff and associates whilst moving forward – this legacy remains to this day.

I & G Cohen became a limited company on November 6th 1959 when Israel Cohen and his son, Gerald began trading in used clothing and household textiles. Israel’s Grandson Elliot joined the company in 1975, and for a time three generations of the family worked together.

Our Philosophy
It is our aim to raise awareness of the need to divert second hand clothing and household textiles from landfill and at the same time raise vital funds for charities, local authorities and waste management companies.

We are extremely proud of our pioneering work in the field of textile recycling.

Our company successfully diverts almost 2 million kg of clothing and footwear from landfill every year, thus minimizing waste and helping create a better environment for future generations.

Moving forward
Today, we have established textile recycling schemes with organisations across the UK, and are experts in setting up systems for the collection and storage of used clothing and shoes. Allowing our partners to gain the most value from their goods as well as increasing the quantity of textiles recovered from landfill.
